Matthew was one of the very best—a devoted husband, loving father, and faithful Christian.
A proud 2008 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Matthew served 18 years in the United States Navy, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Matthew logged more than 925 flight hours in the E-2 Hawkeye, including combat-zone operations, and served as a Military Liaison Officer supporting United Nations stabilization efforts in the Central African Republic. He also played a key role in the Navy's transition to the E-2D platform, leaving a lasting impact on fleet aviation.
Matthew passed away on April 26, 2026, less than a year after being diagnosed with signet ring cell adenocarcinoma of the duodenum, a rare and aggressive cancer presumed to have originated while on an IA deployment to the Central African Republic in 2021.
Matthew's legacy of faith, service, courage, and love lives on in all who knew him. He is deeply missed.
